Do Knot Disturb – Enter At Your Own Risk

With Do Knot Disturb, David Dhawan gives us another comedy on extra marital affair. Some of his previous works on the same subject are Saajan Chale Sasural, Gharwali Baharwali and Biwi Number 1. So he took cues from all of them and made Do Knot Disturb. This movie has a wafer thin plot, just like any other present-day Bollywood comedy craper..

Do Knot Disturb Movie Poster Do Knot Disturb Enter At Your Own RiskRaj (Govinda) plays husband to Kiran (Sushmita Sen) – owner of Saxena Group of Industries. Raj is having an extra-marital affair with a super model Dolly (Lara Dutta), who has left her ex-boyfriend Diesel (Sohail Khan) for greener pasture. Raj kicks out his butler Mangu (Rajpal yadav) as he was caught romancing another lady servant Marry in the kitchen. When Mangu sees Raj along with Dolly, he decides to avenge being thrown out of job by clicking their photograph, which he then sends to Kiran. Fortunately for Raj, Goverdhan (Ritesh Deshmukh) wanders into the frame when photograph was being clicked by Mangu. When Raj was confronted by Kiran Regarding the photographs, he avoids the situation by telling his wife that Dolly is not his girlfriend but Goverdhan’s Girlfriend. He was just passing by and just appeared to be close to Dolly but the seeds of suspicion have been sown and Kiran decides to hire her friend Nunnu (Ranvir Shorey) who happens to be a detective to find out the truth and catch Raj red handed. Nunnu has a soft Corner for Kiran and is more than eager to catch Raj red handed so that he can get his love back.

On the other hand Raj asks Bantu (Manoj Pahwa) – Raj’s employee-cum-friend to find Goverdhan, who happens to be a waiter in a Restaurant. Raj knowing the fact that Kiran will now keep an eye on Dolly, lures Goverdhan to act as Dolly’s boyfriend. Raj begins to suspect that Goverdhan is trying to cook his own khichri with Dolly, while Kiran can sense the jealousy creeping in Raj. At last, Kiran makes a plan where she tells Raj that she is going to Pune to meet her mother for a day and at the same time informs Nunnu to catch Raj red handed as she is sure that Raj will try to meet Dolly in a hotel. Dolly’s ex-boyfriend Diesel also reaches the hotel looking for Dolly’s boyfriend so that he can thrash him and get back his love. With all the major characters getting into the same hotel, further sequences lead to misunderstandings, confusion and chaos.

Apart from a couple of scenes, where Manoj Pahwa was spying on Ritesh Deshmukh, and Lara Dutta gives minute-by-minute details to Govinda, there is no other scene which will make you laugh. The only positive regarding this movie was performances of Manoj Pahwa, Rajpal yadav and Ritesh Deshmukh.

A weak plot coupled with stale and lame jokes is a deadly combination and a big contributor to headaches. Overacting by Govinda and Lara dutta is also one of the weak points of the movie. For the sake of comedy, we have actors yelling at the top of their voice or breaking into a female tone without any reason. Songs have been included at unnecessary places and on top of it the music is mediocre.

Slap stick comedies work big time if either the jokes and gags are funny or the performance of lead stars makes even the silliest of joke worth a rip, but Do Knot Disturb lacks both. The tag Line for the movie is “Fun Lies Behind Closed Doors” then LET IT BE!
