In Ishq with…Ishqiya. Watch it!

Well done Abhishek Chaubey and Vishal Bhardwaj! You couldn’t have asked for more from the debutant director, Ishqiya is a fresh film, with a plot-twist every minute. It is a bit complex to understand at first go, and has a very unrealistic ending but thats what Ishqiya is all about.

No, I am not criticizing the film. It’s the way the Indian cinema is changing from garden romances to something more realistic like Ishqiya. This movie is for people with good taste, it wont be understood by many people and most likely the box office collection is going to be average but that in no way means that the movie is not good. The movie is ‘different’, and thankfully, such different scripts, now, have many takers in India.

Looking at other Vishal Bhardwaj movies, you can strike a co-relation between Ishqiya and Omkara but they are distantly apart in terms of their story and screenplay.

In terms of performance hats off to the veteran – Naseeruddin shah. In fact, Arshad Warsi and Vidya Balan have also done full justice to their role. Vidya has taken her career way ahead with her performances in Paa followed by Ishqiya. It’s hard to belive that it’s the same actress who acted in Heyy Baby .

Ishqiya is definetly watchable though you may not like it from the beginning, but once you get into the world of the two thieves and a widow, you may find it difficult to come out of it. There are many twists and turns here and some of them very unrealistic but still the blend turns out to be pretty well balanced.

When it comes to music Ishqiya doesn’t have too much to offer. Rahat’s voice would suit any song that he sings, and Dil to Bachcha Hai Ji turns out splendid with him.Ibn-e-Batutaa is a very peppy number. Apart from this nothing much in songs, even though the movie scores high on background score .

Go watch it guys and appreciate the work of the debutant!!! Ishqiya – You’ll love it.
