Salesman of the Year is a great Pitch-ure. Rocket Singh is decent.

rocket singh e1262181086664 Salesman of the Year is a great Pitch ure. Rocket Singh is decent.Rocket Singh is yet another brilliant movie after Chak de from the Writer-Director Combo of Jaideep Sahni and Shimit Amin. Rocket Singh is a zero-to-hero story of an idealistic corporate futcha, who rather than getting lured to the glitters of corporate world by working against his value system decides to take his own way and achieve success without compromising on his beliefs.

Harpreet Singh Bedi (Ranbir kapoor) just manages to pass his B.Com exams. Knowing that CAT is out of his Reach and his grandfather Prem Chopra doesn’t have enough money to get him into a private institute for MBA, he decides to get into a Sales job. He lands up at AYS computers as a trainee. But soon he realizes that Sales is not that glamorous as it appears to be. His ideals clash with the way the sales department works and his bosses think. He realizes that people are willing to go to any lengths to get the numbers in front of their names and the bosses are concerned only about the numbers and nothing else.

He has to pay for his honesty in the dog eat dog world when he is demoted to be a Telecaller, after he complains about a manager in the client company asking for his cut. But he lands up with 2 contracts so he decides to start his own organization – Rocket Sales Corporation within AYS computers for which he works. 24×7 services, Focus on service, Honesty and fulfilling Commitments forms the 4 pillars of Rocket Sales Corporation. Gradually, other AYS Computer Employees – Koena (Gauhar Khan) – the receptionist, Girish (D Santosh) – the service engineer, Chhote Lal Mishra (Mukesh Bhatt) – tea-boy, and the team head Nitin Rathore (Naveen Kaushik)) join him as partners. Their Boss Puri (Manish Chaudhary) gets to know that Rocket Sales Corporation is being operated from the Office of AYS computers. Puri takes over Harpreet’s Rocket Sales Corporation but as the Sales start stumbling, he realizes that he has just taken over the Brand name and returns it back to Harpreet Singh.

Nice Script, backed by brilliant performances from almost the entire cast works in favor of this movie. Direction is top notch. Witty one liners are also good. All in all a good team effort works for this movie. No melodrama. The movie’s length and pace reduces the impact of brilliant script writing and direction. The climax is stretched and the feeling of euphoria is missing when Hero’s boss admits defeat. Some scenes make you feel – how is it possible ???

It is a must watch for those who are looking for content and fresh ideas in bollywood movies. The movie is not perfect but the fresh idea and good direction overrule the flaws of the movie to make it an entertaining watch.
