Sometimes, you don’t need a huge ensemble, big stars and a well scripted story to make a hit. all it takes is achieving a perfect blend of all aspects of film-making – good performances, decent script, and engaging direction. The Hangover, directed by Todd Phillips – the very same guy who brought us Old School, is a good example of a casually framed adult comedy becoming into an immense hit. You will really enjoy the way the mystery unfolds itself over the movie in a very hilarious way – the well implemented twists and turns and the spot-on witty comedy. The best thing about The Hangover is that everything is the way it should be, nothing goes overboard nor is anything understated.
The Hangover is the story of four guys trying to find out what happened to them during one night’s bachelor party gone wrong in Vegas. The story unfolds as they retrace their steps back in their attempts to find their missing friend. Two days prior to Doug’s (Justin Bartha) wedding, he drives to Las Vegas with his close friends Phil (Bradley Cooper) and Stu (Ed Helms) and his future brother-in-law Alan (Zach Galifianakis) for a bachelor party. but when these grooms-men wake up with a hangover, Doug is missing and their suite is a mess. Now they step out to find out what they did last night (of which they have no memory) and to find the groom and get him on time to his wedding.
But that’s just not it. Throw into the gala a chicken, a tiger, a baby, heavy-weight boxer Mike Tyson and of course the wild city of Vegas and you get yourself a handful of witty and naughty comedy.
The movie is a fresh respite during this season of some many drab movies. The comedy is well implemented and maintained until the end. This movie is a must watch for everyone and will make a good collection item.
The movie scores a 78% on the Tomato-meter and an average vote of 8,1 on IMDB.
